Papamama

After serving a decade in prison, Noa, a 48-year-old transgender gypsy woman, is fighting to regain custody of her teen children, who are living in a state-run facility. The system requires her to find a home, but due to lack of resources, Noa occupies an apartment from which she is about to be evicted. Her cousin Mary Karmen, an intersex gipsy squatter activist is her faithful squire, as well as other friends living on the fringes: Nani, a drug abuser and pickpocket, and Luana, a portuguese homeless singer. Solidarity and sisterhood among all of them, sprinkled with a lot of art and a surprising good humor, push them to survive their harsh realities.
